Investment Opportunities

Whilst visiting Mildura why not consider local ‘investment opportunities’ into your schedule and extend your stay. We can meet with you and/or your team to discuss current projects and exciting new development opportunities in our region.

Our locality offers cost savings to businesses investing in our region (low cost of living, affordable land and modern infrastructure) and an attractive location to recruit and retain employees (appealing work/life balance and low cost of living).

The Mildura region has a $2.765 billion economy that has shown positive growth over recent years. Renown worldwide for quality agricultural, horticultural and viticulture production, Mildura has diversified and expanded over many years to include a variety of industries:

Mining is a new and growing industry to our region. Two large mineral sands companies, with the potential to invest up to $400 million in the region have established their mines in the region over the last few years.

Solar Projects: An abundance of sunshine hours, clear days and excellent infrastructure has made the Mildura region a premier location for large scale solar development in Victoria.

The Sunraysia Modernisation Project has resulted in the Victorian Government securing $103 million from the Commonwealth for the modernisation of Sunraysia’s irrigation. This funding will be a huge bonus for the our local irrigated districts, providing systems that will facilitate investment growth in existing and new market demand for horticultural produce.

Mildura airport is the largest and busiest regional airport in Victoria, catering for 210 000 passengers per annum and offering 70 flights per week to and from Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Broken Hill. In 2012/2013 Mildura airport will be undergoing a $6.4 million terminal redevelopment to accommodate growing visitor numbers.

Mildura Riverfront Precinct redevelopment is estimated to bring $20.6 million to the region in gross revenue. Stage 1 is a $13.3 million fully funded project that is led by MRCC with an estimated completion date of November 2013.

The Mildura Riverfront Precinct redevelopment and Mildura airport redevelopment will contribute to an already booming tourism industry worth more than $230 million annually.

Participation in motorsports activities in North West Victoria is as much as four times the national average and still growing. Mildura is proud to be the hometown to past world speedway champions and current Super V8 superstars Rick and Todd Kelly.

A Motor Sports Industry Development Feasibility Study completed in late 2011 shows that motorsports currently contribute $21.4 million per annum to the Mildura economy and forecast to increase to $61.7 million p.a. if the recommended facilities are developed and if effective management, marketing and scheduling are applied.
